  1. Brand Awareness.

When you are getting ready to release a book, you can do a few things beforehand. Anticipation should never be underestimated as a great way to enhance book sales or downloads. You need to establish brand awareness.
Readers like to know about the Author, what did you do before writing, is writing your hobby if so what else do you do? What other interests do you have away from writing?

Do you have an interesting story as to how you became interested in writing?
All these questions can be answered on social media.

As a new author creating your own Facebook page Instagram or LinkedIn account before release can enhance sales.

A lot of work put in before publishing can save a lot of work after publishing.
Once you get some followers you can soon establish brand awareness and they can help you with important decisions about your book.

You can ask questions about Book covers for example, what is it about a book cover that draws people in?

Is the colour of a book cover important. This helps in two ways, one to get engagement by asking a question, and two by designing your cover that suits the masses rather than personal choice.

Giving teasers about your book can create anticipation, asking questions about your characters or what kind of characters do your followers like can also create anticipation.

Let your followers know about one of your characters from your book, why they were created what inspired you to give them the personality you did, all creating anticipation of your book release.

2. Creating a Blog, Vlog or Website.

Another great way of creating a following is by having a blog page, website or to start vlogging.

This is a great way of advertising your social media content and another opportunity for people to find out about you and your new book release.
This can all be done even before you have put pen to paper. Making a daily blog or video of your daily struggles about your writing and what's going on in your personal life can really resonate with the readers. Perhaps discuss how you are struggling with characters maybe even read little extracts from your book.

The more work you put in before release the more success you will have afterwards.

3 Newsletter.

Creating an email list on your blog website or even on your video channel is a free way to gain access to potential customers when your book is finished. maybe even create a monthly newsletter explaining where you are with your writing or how far from the finishing line. The more people you have signed up for your newsletter the more potential customers you will have when you release your book.

4. Look for Reviews.

Before you release your book officially, look for readers that are willing to give you a review for a free copy of your book.

Readers are more likely to read your book if other readers are talking positively about it, this also allows you to edit anything that you may have missed when proofreading your book before release.

5 Choosing a Book Cover.

Too many authors choose the book cover that they like, this isn’t about the author this is about the readers.

Just because purple is your favourite colour does not make this a great decision to have a purple book cover.

Do some research as I said earlier actually take the time to ask people, what they like about a book cover and would it make them more likely to buy a book or move on.

The big cover designers have spent thousands finding out what works, you should take advantage of this by doing some research online or trust your publisher that they know what they are doing.

6. FREE Works.

A good way to gain sales for your book is to take advantage of Amazon and giving your book away for free initially.

This is another good way to get reviews and place your book in the best sellers on Amazon before switching to paid sales.

Momentum is everything and once you have gained this momentum and have a lot of great reviews it will be a lot easier to sell.

7 Marketing.

Everything needs marketing and it has to, unfortunately, be paid for. One of the biggest fast-food chains in the World Mc Donalds do not rest on their laurels, they continue to pay for advertising, even though people keep coming back for more week in week out.

If they have to pay for marketing it stands to reason that an unknown author would have to do the same.

If you don’t know how to do it, then pay someone that does.
